Happy days for Canon, Sony, Olympus and Panasonic, etc…
Today Nikon indicates it has begun restructuring. To stop the bleeding Nikon will provide 1,000 employees an easy exit with a Voluntary Retirement Package while 1,000+ others will be retained only until March 2017 when they will be terminated.
* Monthly salaries reduced
* Bonuses for the entire 2016 up to March 2017 will be forfeited
* All Performance-based Stocks Options also forfeited
This restructuring is said to cost Nikon approximately 48 billion Yen while saving approx. 20 billion Yen per year going forward.
It’s my hope Nikon pulls through these tumultuous times with this company-wide restructuring.
